What is the role of IPA consultants in projects?

Project Management is not only important for us to achieve project goals effectively but also to distribute the tasks in the whole project organisation correctly:

  • The task of an external consultant is usually to transfer the know how to the enterprise, training and couching of people, leading of people, leading of projects, or carrying out some specialised tasks. The consultant’s role should retreat and his tasks should be gradually overtaken by the people from the enterprise.
  • The top management should choose the topics of the project from the position of sponsors, to define the goals, to make necessary decisions during the project and to evaluate the results.
  • Project managers lead the projects – therefore they should have the biggest time space for this work. At the same time they must have suitable qualities and abilities for this work. An external consultant or the sponsor can help her/him in the first projects.
  • Project teams consist of specialists who have mastered the necessary methods for project solving. But mostly the project team consists of people who know the processes which are to be solved.
